About this options profit calculator

The Passive Nomads options profit calculator lets you model any options position — single legs or complex multi-leg strategies — and see its profit and loss before you ever place a trade. Enter your strikes, expiries and entry prices, add the underlying at entry, and generate a full P&L profile in seconds. Unlike a static payoff diagram, this calculator lets you scrub forward in time, shift implied volatility, and move the underlying price to see exactly how your position behaves under changing conditions. It's free, runs in your browser, and is built on the same pricing engine as the Passive Nomads options simulator.

How the profile graph works

The profile graph plots your position's profit and loss across a range of underlying prices. Three controls let you explore it: the days-to-expiration slider scrubs time forward toward expiry so you can watch time decay reshape the curve; the implied-volatility slider shifts IV up or down to show how a volatility change helps or hurts the position; and the underlying-price slider moves the current price along the curve. The "P&L now" readout shows your profit or loss at the exact combination of price, time and volatility you've selected — the number that matters most when you're deciding whether a trade is working.

Understanding your position's Greeks

Every options position carries risk described by the Greeks — delta (directional exposure), theta (time decay), gamma (how delta changes), and vega (sensitivity to volatility). This calculator prices your position using these same values. To understand what each Greek means in plain English, see our guide: The Greeks.

Frequently asked questions

Is this options calculator free?

Yes, completely free and browser-based, with no signup required to use it.

Can I model multi-leg strategies?

Yes — add as many legs as you need (spreads, strangles, condors, custom combinations) and the profile reflects the whole position.

Does it use real options pricing?

Yes, it uses a Black-Scholes pricing engine — the same one that powers the Passive Nomads simulator.

Can I include shares of stock in the position?

Yes, add a Stock leg to model covered calls, collars, and other stock-plus-options hedges.

Can I save a position?

Yes — create a free account and save any position to your trade journal to revisit later.

What does "P&L now" mean?

It's your position's profit or loss at the current slider settings for price, time to expiry and implied volatility.

Passive Nomads provides free educational content and simulation tools for learning about options. Nothing here is financial advice. Options trading involves risk, including the risk of loss. Simulated results do not represent real trading outcomes.
